FINLITERACY

Empowering Young Minds for a Brighter Financial Future

Our MISSION

FinLiteracy (“FinLit”) is a New Jersey based 501(c)(3) charitable organization, working to remediate the financial disparities economically marginalized communities experience.

We aim to serve children in grades K-12 with extensive financial literacy programming, financial events, realistic investing activities designed to inspire critical thinking, and provide technological resources that appeal to the 21st century learner along with reading materials tailored to the specific learning needs of our young scholars.

FinLiteracy strives to set the foundation for our youth to transition into adulthood with adequate financial knowledge in order to navigate the financial realm with excellence.

Children learning

Connect

We connect children with the resources and knowledge they need to succeed in the financial world. We also connect children with one another to build a strong community that supports and uplifts each other.

Uplift

We believe in uplifting children and providing them with the tools and resources to achieve financial success. We aim to instill confidence, self-worth, and a sense of empowerment in every child we work with.

Transcend

We are dedicated to helping children transcend financial limitations and achieve their full potential. We believe that every child deserves a fair and equal opportunity to succeed, regardless of their financial status.

PROGRAMS

Our programs include distributing a Children's Financial Literacy Book and Coloring Book, which will provide age-appropriate financial education resource designed to teach children about money management and personal finance in a fun and engaging way. Another initiative is the My First Stock Campaign, which will teach middle and high school students about investing in the stock market. Through these programs, we hope to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals and families by empowering them with the knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions.

Shakor J. Jukes

FinLiteracy was founded by Shakor J. Jukes and Alexandria E. Hall, who both observed a lack of organizations and resources aimed at offering financial literacy to underprivileged children.

Growing up in Newark, NJ, Shakor was motivated to pursue a career in Accounting/Finance, where he can utilize his expertise to empower children in the communities that shaped him.

For over a decade, Alexandria has served the children of Jersey City Public Schools. FinLit has allowed her to merge her love for education with the importance of financial literacy to inspire the next generation of leaders.

DONATE

Together, let's break down the barriers to financial literacy for children in economically impoverished neighborhoods. Join us in the mission to empower young minds with the knowledge and tools they need to achieve financial success.
